Thankful Thursdays: Heat Records are Falling

Grand Prismatic Park  - photo by James St John

The weather has turned hot.. very, very hot. Try as I might to think of ice cubes and polar bears, the severe weather alert we're under is overpowering my imagination. Instead of a swimming pool, I think of hot springs like Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park. It is the largest hot spring in the USA!

Visualize snowflakes, you say? I'm trying, but they resemble - HOT AIR BALLOONS! That would be a weather phenomenon to videotape and go viral on YouTube.

Picture working at a flower shop with cool temperatures and beautiful flowers. Gosh, no, it didn't work. I feel more like I'm watching my father-in-law fire up the arc welder and put heavy plates of metal back together.

This is a good warning for hot weather. Don't touch it! Back away from the sun. This is a day to stay inside and resist exercise.

In case you haven't guessed, it's
Extremely Hot!

Mother Earth is delivering a lot of surprises this year. Roll with the punches, stay sane, and take care of yourself and your family. Water never tasted so good.

So.. how are you handling your weather?

  1. Our weather has been kind of cool around here, which is odd. Hardly any beach days and that is not like us.

  2. It has been so hot the last few week. If I am doing anything outside I try to drink lots of water. We usually get an afternoon thunderstorm that helps to cool things off.

  12. It's been pretty hot this week so we are hunting down air conditioned activities. The kids don't want to spend a ton of time outdoors unless it's in the pool.

  14. I love the warm weather but i do not like to get overheated. I stay inside in the cool air during the peak heat times. It is important to stay hydrated during the heat wave.

  16. I know I'm hating the hot weather we've been having too. It scares me because it's not even yet July! I hate to think of what July and August are going to be like.
