Thankful Thursdays: I Found the Million Dollars!

Ever since I was a little kid, there's been a family joke about finding the million dollars tucked safely away somewhere. Helping with housework and yardwork was fun because there was always a chance of finding a clue or perhaps the whole stash of loot!

Wow, I found the million!

My hubby and I carried on the saga of the million and used to joke when we'd find a penny or dime that some of it must have spilled out into the open. It's easy to feel rich when you know there's that much money hanging around somewhere.

I was sorting through some old files and tubs to see what could be tossed or sent to thrift stores. I'm one of the "Oh, gosh, just look at this" kinds of people. I get sidetracked debating what to do with things. Sometimes I just put the lid back on or shut the drawer to come back another time.

At any rate, I found a sealed envelope inside one of the files with my name on the front. I slit it open and there it was! The million dollars!  I did a little happy dance and laughed until I cried. I could just see the big Irish smile on my man's face as he tucked away a leprechaun-themed million with a great message for me to discover at a later date.

A new theme for future generations to carry on? It's the gold bars that must be hidden away somewhere.

  1. My sister, who is an artist, made this HIDEOUS little shrunken head out of plaster when she was in high school. my dad and I spent SO much time hiding it on each other and trying to scare each other. My mom finally had to take it away.

  9. This is really cute. We played mean jokes on each other growing up. My brother could sleep through anything so we would paint his toe nails.

  14. That is so fun! This is reminding me that I have my nose to the grindstone so much we aren't doing enough fun things like this! We do have a leprechaun that comes every ST. Patrick's day though that tears our house apart and turns the milk and toilet water green!

  19. Can't really think of any silly traditions like that when I was younger. But now I have a little fairy magic that lives in our house. Kiddo and I have an inside fairy garden and for the last few years kiddo has left notes and treats for the fairies. Sometimes they leaver her notes and gifts too. It makes her feel special to think that the fairies are with her. I've been reading her Celtic/Irish fairy mythology for as long as I can remember.

  22. I have to laugh, my husband and I have these fake 1K bills for a fun poker type party we've kept for year. Sometimes, I hide them in his pockets, shoes, the car... he gets so excited then so bummed all in 3/2 seconds!
