Traveling Tuesdays: Thinking about Bavaria

Near Oberstdorf

There’s still a lot of world I want to see. Part of me is grateful for the travel I’ve done. Another part wants to travel more in the near future.

There are multitudes of beautiful places in Bavaria, including the municipality of Oberstdorf. Five other villages besides the namesake village are within the area. Tiefenbach has a sulphur spring spa. Rubi is quite small with its population of roughly 175.

The Chapel of St. James, over 450 years old, is located in Reichenbach. Incredible art can be found in the Chapel of St. Fabian and St. Sebastian, located in Kornau. Schollang has quite a few farm houses near the Baroque onion tower at the parish church.

Oberstdorf has many hiking trails and a cable car that provides an amazing view of the Allgau Alps.

You know the look someone gets in their eyes as they enthusiastically describe something they love? Some German soldiers I met years ago eagerly described Bavaria and had the look of someone describing a priceless treasure. They encouraged me to visit there during my lifetime.

Life is speeding by and I have yet to make it. I decided to look at pictures and remind myself I want to see this German state.

Is there a special place you plan to visit?

  6. Germany is definitely on my bucket list. Not only am I of German decent, but my husband is as well. With a last name like Wahrer, it would be a sin not to see our roots.

  7. I am from Manitoba, Canada. We took our honeymoon to the west coast of the country and our dream is to visit our whole beautiful Country during our lifetime. Of course we love traveling all over the world, but we want to be sure to take in as much of our own Country as possible too.

  11. Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing. We are in the process of planning our 15th anniversary trip... still undecided on the location. My husband is open to anywhere but I have to plan in and he refuses to be gone longer than a week... so tough to decide.
