It was a slow trip, but I finally made it to a resolution! |
Be it resolved that 2016 is going to see a slimmer, trimmer me. Short-term goals are best, so I pledge to lose 15 pounds by the first of July.
I try to eat healthy. Veggies and fruit are very important, but the recommended amounts are too expensive to handle. Checking store ads to stock ahead on sale items is one way to meet the RDA.
Sometimes lightning has to strike to inspire us to wisdom. I have two grocery shopping pals that frequently ride along with me to the stores. Bargains are better when purchasing quantities. It's quick and easy to separate a shared purchase once we return to the car and each of us benefit by the price and quantity.
$1 for one orange vs $1.98 for 5 lbs of smaller oranges of good quality? Yesterday, three of us walked into our individual kitchens to put away the fresh fruit that cost each of us 34 cents less than the price of a single orange.
Once growing season starts, there will be lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to look forward to.
It's always easier to achieve a good goal when you have
to help you along the way. Encouragement and companionship provides inspiration and a reminder that it's fun to be healthy!
Are there any new resolutions on your horizon?
That is totally doable! I love it when people set realistic goals for themselves. You are gonna knock it out of the park.
ReplyDeleteI didn't make a resolution for the new year. I always break them. Instead, I decided to just work on myself as a general part of my life and not a resolution which I'll just break. So far so good!
ReplyDeleteSplitting groceries is such a great way to save! My mom, sister, and I usually go to Costco together so we can split food and household items like this.
ReplyDeleteMaking resolutions that are achievable as short term goals is really important. Sounds like you got a great deal on those oranges. I need to find someone to split groceries with.
ReplyDeleteI make a few goals for myself each year and this year's are definitely attainable. Getting organized is a must for me and my family - we're welcoming a baby into our family of 3, so we have to get prepared! I love the idea of splitting fruits or vegetables with friends - it will definitely help with cost, and to eat everything before it spoils!
ReplyDeleteI set a couple goals so far. I am exercising and eating healthier. Lets just see if it continues after January.

ReplyDeleteI'm on a mission to slim down as well. I started with a meal replacement smoothie for breakfast and it was delicious. I normally skip breakfast, so hoping this gives me a boost and more energy to execercise throughout the day.

ReplyDeleteI like to buy in bulk when i can and i split it with a friend of mine. We get huge savings buying large quantities. This year i am taking better care of myself. I bought a Fitbit to help me achieve my goals.
ReplyDeleteSo, so smart! I think over aggressive goals only lead to disappointment. You will probably arrive at your goal sooner than you think and can pat yourself on the back when you do!
ReplyDeleteI end up with so many unfinished projects. It's like a half-done craft graveyard at my house. This year I'm working on completing all of them.

ReplyDeleteI did not make any resolutions but I am trying to eat healthier. I did decide I was not setting any more goals related to a certain weight or number of lbs lost. Everytime I do that I end up gaining weight.
